Horned, Lime green and Purple catipillar

I would love to identify a catipillar that has bristled horns on its head and rear. Its body is lime green, with a purple head and tail; a purple spot on its back; and fake green "eye" spots on its rear. Clusters of bristles are along its lower edge to look like a dust ruffle. This guy is 1 1/2" long and 1/2" wide. My elbow was very unhappy from rubbing against these bristled horns!! Thanks

Hi Briecinder,
You've actually posted in the Australian Gardenweb forum. No worries mate, we love visitors :-)
But we probably can't help as your colourful crawley may be from a butterfly or moth endemic to north america. Below is the link to the USA pests and diseases forums. Re-post your question there and I'm sure you'll find help.
Cheers,
Alison
