black sandfly-looking insect

The young garlic plants, chives & lemon trees (branches & leaves)have been attacked by the black, sandfly looking stuff. They suck the plants till they die - very quickly in a matter of days. When sqaueezed these pests ooze out blood. They form black patches on the plant. I've tried all sorts of organic sprays & also hosed them to no avail. I'm desparate to get rid of them as all my precious plants are being killed off.
I'd appreciate some advice.

It does sound a lot like black aphids. Have you tried a pyrethrum based insecticide? Cheers, Dee. |
