Ants in the soil of my pots

Should I be worried when large numbers of ants make themselves at home in the soil of some of my pots? They are tiny ones, brownish in colour. I always use premium potting mix. The plants don't seem to die, but then again, it is impossible to know if they might not be healthier if the ants weren't there.

Should I be concerned - and if so, what do I do?

"""The damage done by ants is usually indirect. They can however cause damage to the root system of the plant as they burrow to build their nest. A soil drenching with insecticidal soap will usually solve the problem."""

Hi I copied the above paragraph from a website, but I had the same trouble, it got so bad I had to take the pots off the back decking, as the little things decided to use my laundry as a short cut to the front garden.I ended up putting the pots in the laundry tub and and filling it with water till it just covered the top of the potting mix, that got rid of a lot. Cheers..MM.

Keeping the potting mix moister will help, even let a little water sit in the base. Ants like the mix dry, just dont let the plants drown.
