scale on bromeliads

Hi,
I have a small black scale on my bromeliads. I have read that you should not use white oil on bromeliads, what can I use? |

What about a weak soap solution with a little garlic and chilli thrown in for good measure.
I didn't know you're not supposed to use White Oil on Bromeliads. I wonder why not! |
