lumps on acacia macradenia / zig zag wattle

I love my Acacia macradenias.
One in particular is about three years old and is currently covered in buds. I have noticed on one of the branches (only about finger thickness) what looks like a growth of some sort which grows almost right around the branch.
It's a kind of lumpy growth and slightly rust coloured. Does anyone know what this might be?
I can quite easly remove this one branch if I need to. Thanks a lot. |

| Going on the description given I think it is Wattle Rust Gall (Fungus). As it is only minor then prune off branch and dispose of it. Keep an eye on the remaining branches and if it spreads to all other branches then remove and replant a new one. GOOD LUCK |

| Thanks for the reply nunof.... I suspeceted it may be some kind of gall. I will remove the branch. I hope I don't lose the tree - it is the best of my macradenias and is a good screen from the neighbours. |
