Buxus pests

| Can anyone help me? My potted buxus have white bugs that weave a tiny next at the junction of the root/stems.
How can I get rid of them?

| Scale? Spray with white oil or malascale. |

they are white and microscopic and fluffy and are found in sticky nests at the junctions -also on trunk They are causing leaf death and the leaves closer to the trunk die first. Have read about root aphids -- could this be these and should I try a soil drench ?? Have tried spraying and toothbrushing them with systemic but they came back quickly |

| Sounds to me like they are mealy bug. Are they kind of fluffy and slow moving (you might even think they are non-moving)? They love to nestle into cracks and crevices, unlike scale which tend to be more out in the open as a rule. They are actually sucking sap from the buxus so you need to get rid of them. My favourite way to get rid of these suckers is to dab them with a cotton bud soaked in metho. The cotton bud also helps you get into the tight spots. Of course you could use the cotton bud with no metho and just squish them into the next life! |

| Yeah, if they look fluffy, they are most likely mealy bug. |
