Spider mites on Dahlias

Posted by rockon SE Qld Aust (My Page) on

My dahlia patch is being taken over by spider mites and I would like to get them under control before they migrate to the rest of the garden. Have tried Malathion and Rogor but they just return with a vengence. Although dahlia season is almost over I would like them to die a natural death. The dahlias that is.

I know this works with roses nor sure about dahlias though....

A bucket of warm soapy water will kill spider mite on roses. Drench the plant in luke warm very soapy water every second day for about 2 weeks or until the spider mite is gone. It worked out well as I used the water out of the washing machine.

you can buy predatory mites from hawkesbury IPM (NSW) or could try bugs for bugs in Qld- they should have web sites to order from or at least get ordering info.
