Has anyone had experience with fungi knats, (small flies about 3mm long) in green haouses shade houses. They are all over my tubes and propagated cuttings.

Doogle

I have the same problem with my seed raising hot house, they must come from the potting mix, I think. They dont appear to do any damage, though, could be wrong. I have taken to just giving a small squirt of fly spray, when it all gets too much. That seems to do the trick.

Are they still a problem for you?

Fungal gnats won't do any harm. They're attracted by anything decaying so just about any organic material will have them hovering around.

I'm having problems with the sheer quantity of them in my indoor plants - and my African Violets do NOT like being hit wtih fly spray. Any suggestions?
