Platypus and waterway management

| I live in a flat in the centre of Queanbeyan opposite the river. At Xmas the council dredged the river of weeds which were clogging it. One large mass really. My concern was the paltypus that live there. Up until the dredging I would see one at least once a week. I believe the small female lives opposite Coles on that side side of the river and the larger male lives further upstream past the leagues club near the big drain. Yesterday I was pleased to see possibly the larger male opposite the Art gallery beside the bridge working his way along a couple of metres from the shore. Managing this ecosystem must be a nightmare for those with that responsibility. |
