I have a big mealybug infestation in a garden bed, it's in the thyme, lavender, and erigeron. some of the erigeron has died. how can I get rid of them?

RE: horrid mealybugs

g'day janine,

not sure if i can help much?

if the infestation is very big then maybe you might have to pull all the infested plants and destroy them, or dump them not on sight tho'.

or you could try spraying with white oil mixed at about 1/4 the recommended rate and applied after the heat of the sun. also look for ants they are known to have a symbiotic relationship with mealies, as well as aphids, scale & thrips.

generally once the mb's are on the roots they are very hard to control.

if there are only a few bugs maybe prune off the infested bit or pick the bugs off or if you touch a bug with a cotton bud that has been wetted in metho' they wil die.
