Every time I look through the pests and diseases forum that "rabbait" question posted on Dec 4 is always up there near the top of the list and no one has posted a reply. I tried to, but couldn't. Anyone else had problems with this?

Hi Amelie, Please don't worry about Rabbits, and Daylight Saving cause we don't have them here, so everything will be alright. WE have more pressing problems Cane Toads, and no water, no gardens left and we've got to do is get on here, because its to dry to garden or grow anything. Sounds like another whinging farmer don't it. Peter.

The reply I tried to post was a simple "no" ( as a bit of a joke actually).
Rabbits are illegal to keep in QLD aren't they? Understandably too - but at least they're cute and furry - cane toads must be one of the most disgusting creatures on earth.
I've got two in my freezer at the moment.

We keep seeing little furry rabbits, darn things, must be our imagination really, not supposed to be here according to our council (Fitzroy).
Cane toads, they came out with the rain, my hoe nearly went blunt dividing them in 2, can't think about them in the deep freeze, may cook them one night by mistake !!!!! They really bring out the bad in me I'm afraid, they do so much damage in pot plants and our dog's water.

i am using rabbait and tonight I found 3 juvenile Magpies eating the pindone laced oats. I am most upset. This is a Federal decision to sell it in oat form only and I think we need to do something about it. Pollies make decisions which stink sometimes. magwag

Hi magwig, I have had problems with magpies getting into things too. The yougsters are such inquisitive creatures and seem to taste and play with anything they can find.
To avoid both poisoning friends and getting rabbit/hare damage, I ended up resorting to individual fine wire mesh protection for sapling trees and long wire mesh covers/tunnels for the vegie garden. I simply used 8 gauge wire pegs to hold down the individual sapling covers but buried the edges of the vegie tunnels about 6" before pegging. HTH teddy,J
