chinese lantern leaf curler

hi all
my aunt gave me this great plant now 1.5 mts tall but it is constantly attacked by grubs which eat the leaves then go into hibernation in a leaf curl.
ive beern pulling these off but the plant now is looking pretty bare.
is there a treatment for there pests.
