Dying Agapanthus

Posted by AnnetteMaree NSW Aust (My Page) on

My agapanthus are dying!!! They start to wilt, leaves are then laying on the ground, at this point plant is easily pulled out of the ground leaving roots behind. It looks like too much moisture (smell is awful) but the surrounding soil is quite dry. Does anyone have any ideas.

I had the same thing about 6 weeks ago, they were all mushy. I put it down to some sort of fungus. It only seemed to affect a couple of plants. Have'nt had any more die off since.
Good luck.

Thanks Bryan, I tend to agree with you about it being a fungus, but unfortunately I'm losing a plant every couple of days, so far I've lost about a third (maybe 15 plants).
I'm about to spray with "Fongarid" so here's hoping!!!!!!!

How did your Agapanthus fare AnnetteMaree? I am experiencing the same thing to mine and welcome any helpful suggestions.
