Slugs

Is it true that the oh-so-ugly slugs in my potato patch with stripes on there back are good guys?? There is a lot of damage to my potatoes if so, but maybe something else is hiding under there too.

If this is true, I almost feel bad about squishing so many of them. I guess snail bait kills them too, huh?

If your oh-so-ugly friends are spotted Leopard Slugs, they are supposed to eat snails and not plants. (I once saw this person on a TV documentary who kept slugs in his shower cubicle to save having to clean the mould.) And yes, I also get pangs of guilt when killing fellow critters. In the afterlife all these critters will be much larger and they will have their revenge on the squishers. See photo on following website:
