 o
rotting palms and cycads

Recently we planted dozens of alexandria palms. In the last couple of weeks some of these palms have died. they started with the fronds wilting and finally the collapse at the base, like rot in its trunk.I have them watered for around 20minutes a day and they are in full sun I dont know what to do. My other drama is that I have a very large cycad that started to go brown all over except for its new growth. It is on a five minute water cycle every day and is also in full sun. I also am unsure if I should pull of all the dead leaves on my palms and cycads. Someone please help me.

RE: rotting palms and cycads

g'day jenni,

cut back on the watering one good deep watering a week through summer will do for all of them. the cycad will need a well drained soil, in nature they grow in some very hard conditions where they survive on natural rainfall.
