 o
infestation of Eucalypytus leaf eating beetles

I have a number of Eucalyptus trees in my garden and they are currently being defoliated from the top down by hundreds of what looks like christmas beetles.
Is there any way to stop them before my trees are completely defoliated and will this cause long term damage.

I think it is probably just one of those natural cycles where the weather patterns and other conditions suit a particular kind of critter and they breed up in plague proportions. Humans have been doing that for the last few centuries, in some countries more than others. It's probably difficult for you to watch your leaves being eaten away, but it's a temporary situation and no doubt the trees will regenerate. Relax and have a beer.
