| Hi, I wonder if anybody can help me.I have a Washington Navel orange tree about 10 years old.For some reason the bark above the graft is just curling back and exposing the wood in places. There seems to be a grey beetle around the area losing the bark other than that the leaves look lovely deep green and it has plenty of young fruit on it.I would think with the problem it has it will not be too long before it is starting to look sick.Any help with this is appreciated.

| Hi Nightowl, if you can give the ulcers a little clean-up and then dry them, on a good sunny day, paint the trunk and wounds with wound paint/ (plastic based paint) to seal up the exposed parts of the trunk as it will be attacked with fungal spores and you may loose the tree. clear away any mulch from the trunk as this will also attract ants to the tree as well, they carry the fugal spores around with them and spread to many other plants as well.A good fertilise and you may get back you Navels. Good luck. Peter. |
