Hi
Has anyone grown DELPHINIUM from seed.
What methods have been successful?
Can you recommend a good source for seeds?
Thanks

| You usually see packets of mixed colours, (pink, blue, white and lilac), where ever seeds are sold. If you haven't grown them before, you could always try a punnet of seedlings. Unfortunately, most seeds and seedlings do not produce the big double flowers usually shown in the photographs. |

| I grow the wild species form of Delphinium elatum every year from seed. YOu want to know how I do it? I do NOTHING. They come up by themselves all over the place. I love plants that look after themselves. |

The big Delphiniums are best grown from crowns. A few years back I was given a BOOT-LOAD by a commercial grower who was thinnig his rows and planted them in my garden - then we moved - so alas no more gorgeous Delphiniums. The grower died and I don;t think the buyer of the house kept them because I noticed a tennis court, where my flowers had been. Sad Saga, but if you can get crown, you'll be rewarded. I might check and see if the nursery still exists. Cheers Cosmic |
