Thanks for the advice! RE Freisia Bulbs

A few months ago, I posted a message about planting freesia bulbs late. Well they are just starting to flower.

I was given advice that I would have a summer showing and true to word it's happening.

Thanks so much! Out of twenty bulbs planted fifteen grew and out of that fifteen only one looks ill. It's got wierd white striations on the leaves, yet it's still produced a flower stem.

They smell beautiful, I love them. They are hybrid Volcano type all orange/red hues with a yellow centre.

Can't wait until bulbs go on sale again next year!

Desi
collect the seed by cutting off the semi dry heads and putting into a paperbag. The pods split open to release small black seeds. I just run my finger through the soil in the garden and pour in the fresh seed, quite thickly. Next year lots of lovely new seedlings will pop up. They should flower the following year after that. I have been producing 100's of babies like this for 15 years. They smell divine and join others at the top of my list of adored plants.
cheers Mrs B

Great to hear Desi!! I knew they would be OK - like Mrs B said, they will self seed freely, as well as producing new little bulbs from the "mother" bulb. Freisia's are such good value.
