plant ID needed

Hi all, I've posted this on the gallery forum but only had one, slightly helpful reply, so thought I'd post here as well

I bought this at a plant market, where the stall owner said it was called Angel's Lamp, but I haven't been able to find anything about it using either Google or my own books, so hope someone might have an idea about it.

The leaves are kind of succulent, and the flowers are a deep pink or crimson colour, with yellow margin, which opens up to a bell shape

Thanks in advance

I agree with Annette - the leaves and stems fit the bill.

There seems to be increasing difficulty with identifying varieties since plant patents have been becoming more widespread. In a previous life, this plant may have been known by some other name - or perhaps it is a new variety, slightly different from it's parents. But all marketing is down under the new name, with often no mention of the species, let alone the variety. Very frustrating.

If we are correct about it being a kalanchoe, you will find that it is very easy to propagate from stem or leaf cuttings, so you can enjoy more of them.

This site has piccies of quite a few kalanchoes which may interest you.

Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Crassulaceae/Kalanchoe.html

Hi Ashke,
yes, its a kalanchoe. if you bought it at the carpark caper, then we both bought one from the same place! kalanchoes are succulents - very hardy and drought tolerant. I've planted mine in a relatively dry spot where I can't get much to grow.
Good luck with your new plant.
