The label is lost but I'm reasonably sure that's what it was called. Multi-stemmed Shrub to about 5 feet, has arching sprays of tiny pink flowers, the leaves look nothing like Persian Shield and its a very thirsty plant. I've tried "Googling "with no success

Hi Alison - I have Strobilanthes anisophyllus (Goldfussia). It has pinkish/mauve flowers - leaves go from green to green/purple. A pic below- though it may not work - if not I will do it on the gallery

I've always wondered why its common name is Golfussia?

Thanks Sooze, that's not it. Larger leaves, all green, the flowers are small but tubular. I'll take a photo next time it flowers.

It's not a mint bush (prostanthera) is it, Alison? Does it get berries? Or Rhaphiolepis which also has a berry. Another might be rondoletia which can produce small pink tubular flowers. Another one that fits your description is Ruellia macrantha or Christmas Pride - the leaves are about 6inches long. Or Weigela florida is an arching shrub with pink trumpet shaped flowers - deep green leaves but they often turn orangey red in autumn. Might be worth taking a sample along to your local nursery. Drives me nuts when the labels go missing and my failing memory doesn't help at all. Barb |

Aha! Found the label (helps when you're a hoarder( it does purport to be a Strobilanthus and the "release" name is Pacific Bells but nothing to indicate species. I have dredged up a rather poor photo from when it flowered before and will put in in the gallery. Thanks Sooze and Barb
