Hi all

My camellias are in bud but haven't come out yet how long does it usually take from bud to bloom?

I only have experience with japonicas but flower formation is a fairly relaxed process. Haven't actually timed them but around 6 to 8 weeks I think. You can tell they are getting serious about flowering when a little bit of colour shows at the end of the bud.

I have a number of shrubs. Bud formation is in different stages from very small to quite round and fat. They will come into bloom from around mid-winter to late spring, depending on the variety.

It seems to me the position in the garden has something to do with the length of time. I have found they vary from shrub to shrub.
Cheers,
Dee.

Thanks for the posts, mine are definitely showing colour and I can't wait to see them out.
