This is my first year gardening and i have been reading some very helpfull hints on this forum. I hope i have what it takes to apply some of the tips i have read. This is our first home we just bought in August of 2004 with a lovely garden that i just can't let go to weed. I am starting seed this year but don't know if i have made a wise choice for a first time gardener. I have "delphinium" (Pacific Giants) & alos "sweet viola" (adorato). Ialso have some bulbs to plant that i bought (1 bulb per pack in soil) dicentra bleeding heart and astilbe glow, which i am going to plant ina couple of days when i finish weeding the garden. There are plants and bushes that were already here that are starting to bloom now but i have no idea what they are lol. I am mostly an indoor plant person, but am looking forward to a nice garden this year with any luck and some suggestions.

You would be best to ask for suggestions from the US garden web forums. The climate here is much hotter and drier, equivalent to USA zones 9 and higher.

RE: Hopefull Success

Even though you are so enthusuastic to start, it is wonderful to work your way through a full year of your new property, just to see what treasures may appear over the seasons. Then you can assess what to keep, what to get rid of, what to grow more of. And to identify things. The US forums have lots of great sections, particularly for natives, and "Name that plant" if you have a digital or camera and scanner. Hope you have a wonderful time with your new garden!
