Moving salvias

I have a Salvia 'Marine Blue' that is not getting enough sun. Are they easy to transplant? Would now or winter be a good time to do it?

RE: Moving salvias

I've just had to move some of mine because after finally going great, the septic tank collapsed and they were too close. So I just dug a hole where I wanted them, dug them up and dropped them in, watered with weak seaweed solution and it's going to rain tonight anyway. If they droop, I'll cut them back a bit. I think they are hardy enough. These were the gorgeous blue ones.

Thanks for the tip Annabel, it's reassuring to know they're not fussy about being moved. Should have known better than to plant it in semi shade.

RE: Moving salvias

I have blue salvias in semi shade, morning sun, along with a gorgeous red and a white. But, the ones I moved have not even wilted. Mind you, we have had a lot of rain this last two weeks and even the rose I had to move did not even willt! I had the plumbers in yesterday and the hole from the collapsed tank filled in so I now have a large, full sun area for new plants and I have loads of daylily seeds sprouting.
