Help propagating Felicia amelloides & Lavender

Hi everyone!
I have before propagated my rosemary shrub (I made enough to make a hedge).
Now I want to do it to my lavender (to make another hedge). I am told this is more difficult.
Also I want to propagate my Felicia amelloides, as the new ones I bought are a much lighter colour that the better darker original ones in my garden.
Any hints or tips on propagating the lavender & Felicia??
What time of year to do it?
Any other hints/tips???
Thanks
Ellie

I tend to throw in cuttings when the mood strikes me...or when I want to move something, that might be killed by the process. I've always found lavender strikes very easily at any time of year....even midwinter, on my protected north facing patio...but I'd recommend doing it now, the sooner the better.

I've just put in some cuttings (actually snappings off from the trip home) of Felicia Amelloides..haven't tried them before.

Some lavenders propagate easily and some just cark it. The Allards are said to be the hardest. I got edging for my gardens by just persevering. I find the Australian lavender propagates well.

Felicia amelloides were the first cuttings I ever tried. Bought three plants and one died, so I figured I had nothing to lose by taking cuttings from the others to replace it. I put some cuttings in tubes in the shade house, and some straight into the bed where I wanted it to grow. They all grew and now I have lots more to spread around the garden. I have found that both autumn and spring are successful. I use hormone powder. Also tried mini terariums (cut soft drink bottles) over the plant in both pots and garden, and found that both covered and uncovered plants grew.

I believe lavenders strike very easily too. I have just taken cuttings of a lavender (I think Lavandula Vera, but the label is lost under a huge plant). My mother has done cuttings of French Lavender.

I put in lots of cuttings, then even if I only have a 25% strike rate I still have plenty of plants.

I must say, Sidonie lavender is my favourite, so that's the one I propagate most. The other one I did mid winter in a warm spot on the patio, was I think English. That probably explains why I think they're easy then! We've just got an Allard's and were planning to propogate it when it gets a little bigger.....hmmmm....better put in lots. Daughter dreams of a lavender farm in the backyard for now, bigger in the future.
Lavender Silver Feather is like a small Sidonie. Same smell. Love it. Hope it propagates as readily.

RE: Help propagating 'Alba' Lavender

I have a bush of Alba Lavender - can I just take a spade and dig a slip off for a friend or is there something special I should do?
