| I planted a few clivea seeds in a pot - according to the instructions on a previously listed link, on the soil surface.
Three of the four sprouted and are doing nicely (but sooo slow). The little leaves are about 2cm high and a nice deep green. What will happen to the berry itself? They still look as healthy and plump as when they were set out. Should they be covered up now? We are expecting our first frost within the next couple of weeks. I think I should bring the pot in - what sort of situation would suit? They are currently on a porch with a little filtered afternoon sun. |

| The berry is the plantlet's initial food source. Just leave it be, it will eventually fall away or rot off. Just make sure (at this stage) that the roots are not exposed so sprinkle a little extra seed-raising mix on themif they are. Yes seedlings ARE slow. If you are concerned about frosts, by all means bring them in at night and put them outside again when its warmed up. They won't need light at night so basically anywhere they are not subject to extremes of temperature - somewhere warmer than outdoors but not near a window and not in direct line of your air-con or heating appliances. |

| LOL Wombat, I meant each day. Or you could send them on a little holiday to Qld where we are today "enjoying" yet another day of this endless (gimme a break) summer. |

| They are too young to travel alone. I'd have to come along to look after them. I might have to bring my Queensland Blue pumpkins along as well. Temperature went down to 1 degree the night before last - but it's only autumn. |
