Could someone tell me if it too late to cut back a Hebe here in Melbourne or do I have to wait till Spring.

Its grown quite leggy and I would like it to bush out a bit.

We have a Hebe hedge and I trim it in autumn just after it finishes flowering.

Like Linda said, wait till it's finished flowering and then trim. If it's REALLY leggy, reduce it's height over several seasons. Each time you trim be sure to leave enough greenery on it to keep it alive (my neighbour butchered his to oblivion and wondered why it died!).

When you have it back to a desired height and shape, try to trim it regularly - you'll be rewarded yearly with a fantastic show of blooms.
