Dichorisandra Thyrsiflora (Blue Ginger)

Has anyone in Melbourne had any success in growing Dichorisandra Thyrsiflora (Blue Ginger)or am I being too ambitious? Since I bought the plants at a Melbourne nursery I am assuming they will grow here. Maybe this is just another of the plants that I manage to bring home and kill. Hope not. Should have read the book I guess but the label seemed promising.

Don't like your chances, I have it in my garden in Brisbane, but Iam sure it is a plant that likes the humidity and heat but go for it.

Years ago when I lived in Melb I bought a potted Frangipani, no it didn't grow, and when I lived in Townsville I tried growing Lavender and daffodil's with no luck the daffodil's did flower once in Brissie, and never again. So why do the shops and Nursery's sell them

Last Spring I planted Scarlet runner beans here, ""No they dont grow in Brisbane" we had quite a few meals out of them. I also planted two blue Wisteria and one white a few months back the blue flowered then came to a stand still, the white didn't and is now growing fast So you never know what will happen with plants.
so good luck with your Ginger. MM

Yes MM I too wonder just why the nurseries sell these plants when we are obviously not in a zone that would be kind to them. I should take the book to the nursery when I am on a plant shopping spree. They look so healthy and happy at the nursery.
