Penstomen & Hard Water

Has anyone ever had difficulties growing Penstomens in hard water - the water is a little salty, but has quite a bit of calcium in it. They were going OK until I we had some really hot weather and they have really turned up there toes and look very sick. At the bottom of the plant it looks like it is re-growing, so I'm not sure if it did dry out or it is our bore water.

I'm not sure wether to lift them and put them in pots till the end of summer.

It's probably the heat as well. If it's regrowing, it's alive, and you could just cut it back and give it some TLC, and a mulch of some kind.
