Growing Yarrow

I hava a fair bit of yarrow ('Achillea Moonshine') plonked in all over the place and it always grows vigourously with lots of flowers.

I decided to try some of the newer yarrows including the terracotta colour and the pinkish coloured ones. The terracotta one has been in for about 3 years now and never a flower to be seen although the plant itself has spread, the pinkish one just starting to grow and spread a bit so I will wait with baited breath for the flower on that as well.

Is there a problem with the newer yarrows? I may have been overwatering the terracotta one as it is on the edge of a shaded bed (it does get a fair bit of sun) but behind it under the tree is water loving plants like rhododendrons etc so maybe the runoff is too much for it.

Any ideas on this one?
Thanks
Eve

RE: Growing Yarrow

Not sure about the new cultivars Eve. I never had much luck with any other colour but white when I grew Yarrow.
I was growing them in what amounted to white beach sand at the time though. I haven't put any in my new garden (I've hardly got a garden yet) if I do I will be looking at some different colours.
I think maybe the one in the shade might not be getting enough sun? That with the extra water might be making it feel a bit off.
Not much help, but I wish you luck.

Thanks Kolanda. I think I will move it out into the sun and hope that fixes the problem.
:)
