Cane beetle/borer?

| i have just lost a bottle palm that was 1mtr in width to little beetles that have eaten the insides out,the palm looked fine with new fronds but blew over in strong winds because the insides were hollow.Is this the cane beetle? how can i protect all my other palms? |

| Sounds to me like it is. What sort of mulch do you use around your palms? I ask this as cane mulch that has not been heat treated can carry cane beetles. regards, Scott |
