Dracaena Reflexa

I assume that many of you have some experience with the 'Song of India'. I've just planted two of them in my 'tropical room', an area of the garden where I have relaxed my 'no exotics' rule, and I'm interested in any tips re pruning/care/watering.

Thanks,

Artie

Artie,

Pleomele reflexa is one of the easiest tropicals to grow. Very hardy no fuss plant that will grow in full sun and once established is drought tolerant. It it gets too tall it can be pruned back harshly with no ill effects. Mine occasionally get fertilised if I happen to be throwing any in there direction.

I just love how the foliage covers the plant. There are a few other Pleomeles available but they can be hard to find. Another similar one that is more green is 'Pride of Malay' it is also worth seeking out.

Andrew.

Song of india and Pride of Malay look good planted together.

Pride of Malay is not that to find - Kmart often have it.
