I have several Etlingeras in the garden which were planted 2.5 years ago.No flowers yet and I'm thinking that maybe the fertilizer I am using is too high in nitrogen as I'm getting loads of new stems and leaf growth.Should I be using something like potash to encourage flowering.

You could try something high in Potassium but I don't think that it will make a large amount of difference. You should start to get blooms soon. From my experience Etlingeras take about 2 1/2 to 3 years to flower in some parts of the subtropics. They seem to flower once the growths have reached about an inch thickness. Andrew.

The best product you can get is called "Banana Blend" it is a special mix for bananas but the results for torches and all gingers is just incredible as it greens up the leaves stiffens up the stalks and really promotes flowers. It comes in 20 kilo bag and smells like dynamic lifter.

Sounds like Banana Blend may have a fair serving of potassium in it?
