Help to fill in the blank spots

Hi,
I would like some suggestions on plants to fill & under plant the blank spots in my somewhat tropical garden here in Adelaide. I have mature palms bangalow, golden canes, dwarf date, windmill, kentias, tree ferns, rhapis, giant strelizia, cydads and very large cocos (they were a mistake) but here to stay. I have planted a selection of colourful cordylines but would also like suggestions on some big leaf green & foliage plants to give this a real lush cool feeling. Also I have a huge Pepper tree that casts a great amount of shade & lawn wont grow - I would like to plant that area out also.
Thanks - Cathy |

| Hello Cathy,in the area where grass won,t grow Calathea, many types you can get,Cyrtosperma are a green foliage plant,Homalomena are popular, the Maccrohiza alocasias are good.Aglaonema is a colourful plant as well.Colocasias.The Homalomena and Aglaonema don,t like the sun much,There are little plants like peperomia and Fittonia that like shade.Dieffenbachia is another good foliage plant. So Cyrtosperma,Homalomena,Aglaonema,Colocasia,Maccrohizas and Dieffenbachia are larger ones. They all like shade.Good luck Graeme. |
