Pandanus baptissii - Dwarf Variegated
| | |
Posted by gail_wa Coastal (My Page) on Sun, Oct 29, 06 at 22:00
Whilst in Singapore, I noticed mass plantings of a dwarf variegated Pandanus, which I believe might be P. baptissii.
Does anyone know where I can purchase plants or seeds in Australia? I have tried most avenues here in W.A. ...
Thanks, Gail :) |

| Hi Gail, I've often wondered about these myself - Rocky Council has some in the traffic island on the way to the airport, but you never see them in a nursery. These folk list them in their price list - $28 for a 200m pot, but you seem to get a lot of plant for your money. http://www.premierpalms.com/ Very underutilised for such a spectacular species, at least from my observations. Did you notice if the Pandan had spines on it ? Equatorial Exotics has lots of this small variegated plant for sale . |

Hi, I didn't see any spines at all. I have followed up on Artie's link and have one put aside for me at Premier Palms, who said they are a bit damaged from the cold winter. We don't get frosts here on the coast, so I'm willing to give them a try. Thanks aroideana :) |
