Hi,

Does anyone know of a good bamboo supplier in Perth, or an interstate supplier who will ship to Perth?

I'm particularly interested in Bambusa Oldhamii (Dendrocalamopsis oldhamii), Timor Black (Bambusa lako), Slender Weavers Bamboo (Bambusa textilis var. gracilis) and Tiger Grass (Thysanolaena maxima).

Ben

Murray,

There is a place near Mount Barker that has around 200 varieties, Hillside Bamboo nursery:

http://www.members.westnet.com.au/peter.bamboo/

Haven't been there yet as it's a bit of a hike.

Or there's Coast Road Palms in Beechboro:

Or:

Palms & Bamboos of Neerabup. 8 Bushland Retreat, Neerabup (9405 1980)

Hope you have some success.

Cheers,

Ben

Ben

Thanks for the info!

I now have several bamboos planted in my back garden which I purchased from Coast Road Palms.

Cheers,

Try Bamboo Landscape Plants (www.bamboowa.com.au)
They have a huge variety and lots of them. Additionally, and after much travelling around, they probably have the best quality (healthy) stock in Perth.
I spoke to a guy by the name of Scott and got a heap of very helpful advice. I believe they are also involved with the Garden Gurus show.

RE: Bamboo in Perth

OK - so after much research on bamboo nurseries in Perth I have found the following;
There is a nursery up in Gin Gin by the name of WESTERN BAMBOO (bit of a drive but good sized stock and very helpfull)
There is also the nursery mentioned in the previous post COAST ROAD PALMS
There is a nursery in the Perth Metro area (SOR) BAMBOO LANDSCAPE PLANTS (good range of stock and great advice)
Then there is BONSAI and BAMBOO in Jandakot (only open by appt)
All have a range of bamboo that will grow well here in Perth. They all vary in the size and quality (as well as price) that they sell.
