Australian Members of the International Cordyline Society will receive a free copy of subTropical Gardening in the mail with their next Cordyline Journal "Ti-Talk", courtesy of the Society in recognition of our 10th Anniversary.

We were pleased to see articles on Cordylines, Bromeliads, Gingers and many other tropical & subtropical species sponsored by the Society.

Our friends Paul Plant (Editor) and the team of dedicated writers are to be commended on producing such a colourful and informative subTropical Gardening magazine.

Helen, congratulation on your article in subTropical Gardening – Gardeners of all skills will appreciate the knowledge provided by qualified Horticulturist.

I’m sure like many of our members, gardeners will subscribe to future editions.

Yes, this magazine is a long overdue and will I am sure be welcomed by tropical gardeners and those living in warm climates, hopefully it can be successful where other publications have failed. Paul has done a wonderful job of producing this magazine along with the authors of the various articles some of whom are members of The International Tropical Foliage and Garden Society Inc.

I would like to see as many people as possible give their support to this first rate publication so that it can cement a future in this competitive field.

Andrew Webb
President
The International Tropical Foliage and Garden Society Inc.

P.S. Helen, it was great to catch up down at the Queensland Garden Expo.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have voted with my wallet and subscribed. Issue 1 was a bittersweet experience for me - the content is fantastic, the presentation less so. I have to remind myself that Paul is just starting out, and that his layout and image quality is not dissimilar to the mainstream magazines of 8-10 years ago. Picking up an old copy of 'Better Homes and Gardens' in the doctors surgery yesterday drove this home, and I'm sure that the ability for a mag to emply topline graphic artists and use state-of-the-art publishing software is directly in line with ad revenue. STG will only improve, but I guess we can expect the ratio of ads to editorial content to increase - c'est la vie.

Overall, Paul and his team deserve hearty congratulations for having the guts to give this a go. I hope that gardeners north of the Tweed will all get behind him, even those who persist in trying to grow temperate plants in an equatorial climate :)

Cheers,

Artie
