Pruning marang, pedalai, durian

Hi. New member from Cairns. My query is in regard to pruning of the above mentioned trees. I have just planted several seedlings of all of them in my garden and am keen to keep them at a manageable height (4-5 metres) for ease, space and also because we get cyclone here.
I have no experience and would appreciate any advice from any that have. Do I leave them til they get to the desired help and then just the top off and keep doing it thereafter.
I have seen jackfruit trees kept like this and assume, being from the same family, that the marang and pedalai should be able to managed the same ??
I found only one brief mention of top pruning durians in my google trolling
Any advice or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
The pedalai I put in (2) were retrieved from the corner of a shade house and are a bit gnarled and deformed already so if anyone has some nice healthy seedlings around this area I would be keen to buy a couple

Not a lot of traffic on this site any more Jim. If you'd like e-mail me privately (which you can do through the link on "my page") I can give you the contacts for some people who might help. |
