Willing to Kill for Rosella Jam

As a native North Queenslander transplanted to Melbourne (due to a Scottish husband who can't cope with the heat) one of the (many) things I really miss is Rosella Jam. I know this is probably a pointless query but is it possible to grow Rosellas in Melbourne? At all? 10% possible? 50% chance? Give me some hope people please! LOL.
I should add that I'm asking because I have the opportunity to get seed which probably makes it a bit more risky if there was any hope at all. I have clay soil which is improving with time (gypsum, compost & mulch) and which my natives seem to love. I have east, west and north facing garden beds available as I know the bushes can take up some space.
Any hope? Or do I just need to pay someone heaps of money to send me Rosella Jam?

You should be able to grow as an annual , if grown fast and well , you should get heaps of fruit before winter returns.
It should also grow well in a large pot.

Thanks for that aroideana. I also now have some info from Eden Seeds saying that I can sow seed in Nov/Dec to get 'fruit' about 4-5 months later. Looking forward to it.

Here (ranges near Brisbane), rosellas are sown in Sept-October because they need a long growing season before flowering and finally fruiting in April.
I have just sown rosella "Jamaican Cocktail" from Kings seeds - they sure look pretty on the picture in their catalogue...

Solanum is right about sowing Rosella earlier than November. Rosellas need 5 months of the hotter weather. The snails took my first lot of seedlings last month, and have just sown a new batch. Are Kings Seeds now in NZ? and if so, are there any import hassles with seeds from NZ?

Florial: Kings seeds are and have been in N.Z for some time - I guess if you buy seeds through Kings they will have all the import issues sorted out.

They are originally from NZ but have been selling in Australia for quite a while (some items, such lettuces, peas or beans were marked "Not for Australia" but in their latest catalogue, most items are available which is very pleasing). They are now online (see link below) which makes ordering even easier.

Here is a link that might be useful: Kings
