Bromeliads

Hi all

I have started a small collection of Bromeliads mainly Vriesea and Neoregelia and am looking for some help about fertilising.

I have read Neoregelia's require very little fertilising and that Vriesea enjoy frequent feeding.

Which fertiliser is best for feeding Bromeliads?

How much should I feed my plants and how often?

I live in North Queensland.

I look forward to receiving your help

Michelle

RE: Bromeliads

I have a few myself, but never fertilise them and they always flower every year.
They are out in garden under the gums trees so dont need any feeding as they dont get it in the wild.
If they are in pots or under cover and you feel you have to feed them only give a light liquid feed
in the growing season but only too well established plants Cheers...MM

I don't normally feed my neos (except when I want more pups) It is easy to feed them too much and make them go strappy and sometimes loose colour.

My Vrieseas are fed when i think about it but generally get feed every couple of months. I generally use an organic liquid fertiliser on them.

RE: Bromeliads

a pinch of slow release around flowering plants like Aechmea & Vriesea etc , every season is the best way to go .
Leave the Neos to starve and cook in bright light for best colour and confirmation.. don't forget to feed up all your Cryptanthus to Michelle, you can use Dynamic Lifter for this .
