I have seen in a local nursery recently,Alexander palms with emerging fronds a dull pink colour,is this common,is this a close relative and not actually an Alexander?
Any info would be great. |

| Richard, I have noticed the same on some of my Alex's and not on others . The leaf turns green quite quickly. Maybe someone can enlighten us both. |

| In recent years Archontophoenix alexandrae has been divided into different species such as A. purpurea, A. tuckeri, A. maxima etc. Even within the standard A. alexandrae there is still variation within the range of the species from the Bundaberg district to those from the Cairns region. The new leaf colour is quite common but maybe some more work needs to be done on the species to identify the differences between local populations. Andrew |
