pruning my frangipanis

My frangipanis have become long and lanky since planting them out in the garden. I want to take the tops off and replant and cut the main stems/trunks back to about a foot or so. Where do I make the cut so it will re-sprout and dense up more. Thanks for any help/advice. The plants have only been in the garden about 2 years and are now around 12 feet high.

Last March I had to cut my red and pink ones down and transplant to make way for a large tank.

I cut them down to about one metre from a similar height to yours dug them up and planted in another part of the garden I had no trouble as all and new leaves have already started growing on the bare branches, just make sure you cut them so that the new growth will sprout on the outside so your shrub will have a good shape... RE: pruning my frangipanis

when I prune my frangipani I just cut at the height I can reach. They are a tough tree and seem to respond fairly well to butchering.

On Moffat Beach in Queensland there's a tree with a trunk about 80-100cm wide that was attacked with a chain saw - at what looks like head height and it's coming back famously - there was a full skip of "off cuts" taken away after the butcher with the chain saw had finished last september - its flowering now.
