dividing a palm tree

| My landlord has just told me that my big containers on the terrace are too big -- and need to be removed. I can keep smaller ones, and since I grew a magnificent Hypaene indica over the last five years (with three trunks), I wonder if I could save it by subdividing it in any way. Has anyone ever done that? Any advice much appreciated |

| Joachim,could you give me another name,I know there are palms that break-away at the base and as long as they have a root system they will grow.I have plenty of books on palms,Graeme. |
