Hi,
Does anyone know of a good place to buy aglaonemas in Qld; in particular the new coloured ones.

Helen , the fancy new coloured cultivars will be available one day , they are very slow growing , so the importers want to ensure enough stock kept for continued propagation . Cape Oasis in Mt Molloy has some great hybrids not commonly available .

Thank you for the info on Cape Oasis, I definitely need a trip to Cairns. I wouldn't have minded having a go at importing some into Australia. I am trying to sort out the cvs and variants in the cvs at the moment as I bought alot while I was in Nambour and Bundaberg.

Thank you for the info,but I am a member of the Tropical Garden Society and I helped build the display garden pictured above. Aglaonemas are very hard to find and I am always on the lookout for more.

Aglaonema Hybrid

Rose Quartz
( Brevispathum Vr. + ( Modestum + Rotundum ) )

Genus Brevispathum of about 20 species of usually rhizomatous, evergreen perennials from topical forest in Thailand, Laos, Malaysian.

( Modestum + Rotundum ) unclear the origin this plants unclear first introduce the author of Thailand Aglaonema book presented in 2000 he believed this plant to be crosses between Modestum x Rotundum.

Controlled pollination seed parent name Brevispathum vr. Pollen ( male ) x ( Modestum + Rotundum )

Leaf venation is one of the most attractive features leaf shapes lanceolate leaf tips acuminate or apiculate leaf bases obtuse or cordate colour orange, red and green depend on growing condition.

Silver Ring
( Nitidum hybrid x Crispum )

Leaf shapes elliptic leaf tips acuminate leaf bases obtuse 3 colour on leaf grayish, green, white and there is also a white rim

Growing condition. Average warmth between 25-32 c temperatures and light may effect leaves conduct to yellowing or dark of leaves or falling leaves and it will interrupt growing of plant.

Keep out of direct sunlight. For healthy growth and colour, use slow release fertilizer twice a year. Use premium potting mix if planting in containers. Watering and misting. Keep moist during the growing season and drier in winter. Feed during warmer months.
