Yellow Cocos Palm

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing a Cocos (Queen) Palm to have golden yellow fronds? They aren't much different in colour to the Wattle flowers behind them! The plant has been in about 1 or 2 years and appears healthy otherwise and 2 others planted the previous year next to them are quite green. I wondered about a soil deficiency.

g'day heather,

maybe magnesium or is it manganise deficiency?? one or both can be correct with an application of epsom salts? maybe a google along those lines may help?

Thanks Len, I wondered about that and did buy a packet but it's still in the pack and doesn't seem to work from there! I will sprinkle it around the palm and see if that helps.

g'day heather,

be carefull using it apparently it is easy to overdose with, also if the plant is in heavy clay soil maybe a good dose of gypsum and then a good layer of mulch or compost then mulch? these can all be applied at the same time as the epsom salts.

A chainsaw works well on Queen (Cocos) palms!!! They are weeds up here.

The problem maybe cold weather,or perhaps soil ph,if your soil is on the acid side then try some iron chelates.
Cheers
