Bougainvillea in hanging basket

| I am new to bougainvillea. A recent program in Gardening Australia got me interested. In particular the program said that there is a dwarf form that can be grown in a hanging basket. It did mentioned a variety called 'Temple's Fire' as being suitable.
I just wondered if anyone out there has grown bougainvillea successfully in a hanging basket and what varieties (and colour) are available in the dwarf form.
I have tried asking the local nursery and most of them can only come up with the 'Bambino' strain which my research shows can grow up to 2 metres high. Now that will have to be in a hanging basket that will bring down the house! |

They grow very well in a hanging pot or pots of any kind, you do have to keep them trimmed though as they will get out of hand if you let them go their own way. At the moment they are a beautiful sight to see as we travel round Rockhampton. Marion |

| Hi, I bought another two last week, both pale pinks. Red Dragon compact boug ""Pink Patch"" height under 1mt. WON compact "Rosenka" didn"t give its height but its low growing I put that one in the garden. I also have Bambino Bougs 1-1'5 mts tall and wide, that I have in a pot, a mass of flowers at present its about 75cms tall just keep pruning them and they dont get big just more bushy so more flowers. I also have Bougainvillea Evita it does not give the height either, but said it is ideal to be trained over banks or be kept as a ground cover it is in a pot and flowering madly also about 75 cms tall I find that the best sellections can be got at Bunnings, if you have one near you, go towards the end of the week when they get new stock in, Big W have some also. Hope this helps. MM |

| I have four bougainvillia in hanging baskets. When I purchased them, they were full of blooms. Four weeks later, there's no blooms. Is this what happens and I should be patient til the next blooms occur? They also look a litle scraggly. What are your suggestions? |
