Frangipani cutting

Hi,

I'm very new to gardening and just wanted some advice about growing a frangipani tree from a cutting.

I have taken a cutting which is about 60cm long and has a couple of little branches. I let it dry out for about 2 weeks and then planted it straight in the ground. I used some slow release plant feed pellets, and watered it almost daily. 4 weeks later and the plant hasn't sprouted any leaves.

Is there anything else I need to have done? Or something I've done which I shouldn't have?!

I live on Bathurst Island in the Northern Territory, where the weather is tropical and most things just grow hassle free. So I'd like to know why I've failed...

Hi Sam,
I'm in Nhulunbuy, same conditions. If your frangipani cutting is still firm and has green tips don't worry. I don't even worry about drying them out up here. Just throw them in the general direction of some dirt!!(stick it in the soil) Pretty soon you've got a frangipani tree. Depending on which type you have, many frangipanis are deciduous. It will grow some leaves soon or at least as soon as it starts to get warmer, if not, e-mail me and Ill send you some. I've got some nice colours and types.

Thanks Brendon! The cutting is still firm and has the green tips it had when I cut it.

I'll give it a bit more time and hopefully I'll see some leaves.

And, thanks for the offer of your cuttings - I might take you up on that at some stage!
