Hi All,

Dont know if there are any feelings about Limpinwood, positive or negative, and I certainly dont have any association with them, but I really have to commend them for putting together a really good website. Read the 'About Us' for a description of the kind of sanctuary that I suspect many of us would love to build (on 8 hectares, no less !).

Cheers,

Artie

Wow! That would certainly be a place worth a visit. You would probably need to take a picnic lunch with you to make it round all that. LOL.
Cheers,
Dee.

Fantastic lot plants there Artie plus natives and others, nothing better.
I would be in my glee in a place like that but would have to leave my purse at home.
Those open days sound great if you lived near enough...Great Website Thanks for posting.
Cheers....MM.

My pleasure, ladies - if only all nursery owners were equally committed to land rehabilitiation (OK, Landcare members may not see their efforts as 'native revegetation', but it certainly beats a degraded cow paddock).

Artie,
I know the place well, I use to work for them in their gardens. Yes the two of them have created a most amazing garden with a wide selection of species, both rainforest plants and sclerophyll natives. As they have deep basalt soils and are situated on a slight ridge within a protected subtropical valley with high rainfall they can grow not only tropical rainforest plants but also natives from 'drier' conditions. The well drained soils allow for Kangaroo Paws, Grevillea's, Telopea's, Banksias to do very well.
Some of the rainforest species originally sourced from NQ are among the oldest of known cultivated specimens, outide of the tropics or even within the tropics where they originate. The owners have been able to cultivate some species which I have had trouble with, even though my fathers garden (where I have my collection) is only 50km as the crow flys from this place.
Places like this allow others to be inspired to do likewise.
Kris
