| I have a Strelitzia reginae (in ground) which is fast approaching 20 feet. It is overwhelming it's location and getting ugly.
It has been in it's present location for about 6 years and is blooming like crazy. Unfortunately, the size of the bases (2) are very large and the upper stalks are frayed and brown tipped. Just trimming the lower stalks doesn't help any more....... If I chop it down to ground level, will it come back? Any help will be appreciated............. |

| I don't understand. Do you mean Strelitzia reginae or S. nicolai? S. reginae never reaches a height of 20ft. If you mean 20ft diameter, neither does it reach a clump size that big. But yes, S. nicolai reaches a height of 20ft. If it's S. nicolai and you chop it, it may not come back. Wait until a new shoot comes up before you chop the old plant. |
