A croton propagation question (or 2)

| I'm aware that by way of air layering, a fairly large piece can be propagated. I'm fairly certain that my neighbour would have some objections to my putting 'blobs' of plastic-wrapped coco fibre all over her plants though.
So, my questions are, how large a cutting can realistically be taken, and expected to root, and I'm thinking that now that plants are beginning to shed their leaves, it probably isn't a good time to do it anyway - is that right? |

I have struck 1000's of Crotons during winter up here Pam.
Was harvesting leaves for sale ,and just cut branches off , then chopped the branch up and stuck into pots of coarse sand , the leafless sticks would sprout leaves in no time . Wait until roots appear out bottom of pot before potting on and expect to loose approx 10% . Large cuttings poked very deep into the ground and stabilised will sometimes strick well . I use a crowbar to poke 30cm + hole and stamp in well with heel of a size 12 Blundstone, same method is extremely successful with Cordylines . |
